CBD Gummies vs. CBD Oils — What You Need to Know

CBD Gummies 101

Full Spectrum CBD Gummies are, well, pretty much exactly what you’d think they are: gummies...infused with CBD!

What’s so special about CBD gummies, you might ask? It’s simple: they make CBD fun. Try CBD gummies and you may find yourself suddenly spirited away to the Flinstone-vitamin era of your childhood. And this time around your gummies of choice might excite your taste buds...while simultaneously making the rest of your body feel calm.

CBD gummies also make getting that perfect dose easy. Getting in a set amount of cannabinoids is as simple as taking a set number of gummies per day. There’s no measuring involved, and no risk of messes.

Just as with other CBD products, not all CBD gummies are created equal. Gummies that pair CBD with natural flavors and natural colors will likely work better than gummies that go the artificial route. After all, why combine known neurotoxins like red #40 with CBD? There’s simply no reason to, especially since our all-natural gummies are packed with truly natural flavor.

Gummies vs. Oils

If you think about it, CBD gummies and CBD oils are alike when it matters — they both contain an infusion of premium CBD.

But that’s about the extent of the similarities. While CBD oils may contain a carrier oil (at FiveCBD we use MCT since it’s the most shelf-stable), CBD gummies take extra ingredients to a whole other level. Among the ingredients in our gummies are cane sugar, tapioca starch, and strawberry juice. Talk about tasty!

Actually, there’s one more similarity you should keep in mind: both oils and gummies need to be quality-controlled and lab-tested.

How Do CBD Gummies Get Absorbed?

There’s another area where CBD gummies differ from other delivery methods: their absorption rate. Compared to pretty much anything else, CBD gummies are absorbed more slowly and take longer to fully kick in. Most customers report an onset time of between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

Don’t think that’s a bad thing, however. The long and winding road that we call liver metabolism allows the effects of CBD gummies to last for a long time. How long? Take your daily dose of CBD in the morning and you just might find yourself experiencing a full day’s worth of relief.

When & Why Gummies are the Best Choice

Everybody is different, so we can’t claim (not with 100% certainty, at least) that CBD gummies are ideal for you.

That said, we can provide some pointers. Consider taking CBD gummies if you:

  • Want your CBD to provide you lasting relief
  • Like to take a precise amount of CBD each day
  • Need a source of CBD to take on the go
  • Have fat malabsorption problems
  • Enjoy all things sugar & spice

And then there’s the other side of the spectrum — CBD gummies may not be the best choice if:

  • You’re trying to avoid sugar (keto, anyone?)
  • You need your CBD to kick in super fast
  • You require ultra-high doses of CBD
  • You’re allergic to tasty foods
